About
Years ago while searching for the right dog for us,
we came across the German Shepherd Dog. Naturally coming from
Germany, we were drawn to a german breed. We wanted a dog which
was able to work in Schutzhund and be a wonderful family companion and
protector. What breed is more versatile than the German Shepherd?
No other breed! Soon after importing our first dog, we started our
breeding program. Of course, we have to follow the German Breed
Standard and their rules. What did this mean? This meant
that we had to get all of our dogs' hips and elbows certified in
Germany, as well as receiving a show rating of G - Good or better,
obtaining a SchH1 working title or better, and getting our dogs Breed
Survey of KKl-2 or Kkl-1.
We love working our dogs and enjoy seeing them grow and achieve all of
their titles as written in the German Shepherd Breed Standard of the SV
(German Shepherd dog Club of Germany).
We are long time members of the German SV, the United Schutzhund Clubs
of America, and the Menlo Park Schutzhund Club. We are also in good
standing with the American Kennel Club (AKC).
What does "Zwinger vom Donau-Ries" stand for? Zwinger = Kennel,
vom = from, Donau-Ries = the county of Bavaria in Germany which I am
from. The County of Donau-Ries was created millions of years ago by a
meteor impact and is now located in the crater. The Danube River
also flows through that county.
